Obituary

Sedley – Anita Turner Felts, 75, passed away April 24, 2026 in her home.  Born in Franklin on November 27, 1950 and raised in Sedley, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Edward Turner and Celia Mae Turner.  She was also predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Julian Arthur "Jay" Felts, Jr., affectionately known as Gran Gran.

Anita was a graduate of Southampton High School, a retired service manager for Blake Ford, and co-owner of Felts Machine, Inc.  A life-long resident of Sedley, she devoted endless time into the community and was instrumental in the founding of the 4th of July celebrations in Sedley. Anita was a member of Sedley Baptist Church, Sedley Woman's Club, founder of Sedley Recreation Association, and served two terms on the Southampton County Board of Supervisors.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Chris Felts (Robin) and Travis Felts (Vicki); a sister, Elizabeth Turner Barnes (Kendall); a brother, Wayne Clarence Turner (Emma); five grandchildren, Shelby Cook (Matthew), Scott Felts, Boyd Felts, Layne Felts, and Ford Felts; a great grandchild, Turner Cook, and twins on the way; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Parker.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, April 29, 2026 in Rosemont Cemetery with Rev. Jim Foreman officiating.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Sedley Recreation Association, c/o Len Turner, P. O. Box 29, Sedley, VA 23878. A reception will follow the service in Sedley Baptist Church.
