Obituary

Branchville – Amanda Miller Phelps-Overby, 78, widow of Herman W. (Kyser) Overby, passed away August 15, 2007. Born in Bertie County, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Rachel Elizabeth Baker Miller and was predeceased by her first husband, Franklin Wilton Phelps, and her infant son, Dorsey Franklin Phelps. Mrs. Phelps-Overby, a retired supervisor from Narrow Fabrics in Boykins, was a member of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxilary and a member of Branchville United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Kayre Ann Harrup and husband, Robert, and Nancy P. Barrett and husband, Glenn, all of Branchville; one son, Franklin Wilton Phelps, Jr., and his fiancée, Lynda, of New Brunswick, Canada; two brothers, Roger Wesley (Dick) Miller and wife, Ruth, of Ahoskie, NC, and Bobby Ray Miller and wife, Jean, of Plymouth, NC; three granddaughters, Cindy H. Flauter and husband, Matthew, Amy Coggeshall and husband, Jerry, all of Suffolk, and Kristen Phelps and her mother, Susan, of Branchville; three great-grandsons, Jerry Jonathan Coggeshall, Aaron Bradley Coggeshall, and Andrew Robert Flauter.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Michael Baugham and Rev. Ricky Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence in Branchville.
