Franklin - Alyce Christine Rollings Britton, 81, died April 29, 2011 at Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Herman and Ethel Claire Simmons Rollings, and a lifelong resident of Southampton County. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Linwood M Britton, Jr.; a sister, Edith Claire Rollings Vick and six brothers, Herman Earl, Samuel Godfrey, Gilbert Stuart, Robert Kilby, Francis Hylton, and James Marshall Rollings. She had been a resident of East Pavilion for about three years, and a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church since her marriage.
Surviving is a son, Samuel Linwood Britton of Lawton, OK, a sister, Jean Carolyn Rollings Holland (Verne), of Winter Garden, FL and a brother, Graham Douglas Rollings, Sr. of Richmond, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. George Futrell officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Christine's name.
