Suffolk – Alma Peterson Williamson, 89, passed away May 16, 2015. Born in Clinton, NC, she was a daughter of the late Kelly and Bessie Rogers Peterson. Mrs. Williamson was a former rural route mail carrier in the Holland, VA area and was a member of South Quay Baptist Church.
This beloved wife, mother, and grandmother leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Richard Williamson; two daughters, Ann Snipes Mears (Ronnie) of Wilmington, NC and Sylvia Williamson Hare (William) of Franklin; two sons, James Thomas Snipes (Phyllis) of Wilson, NC and Ronald Eugene Snipes (Sandra) of Carrsville; five grandchildren, Lisa Ayscue, April Henderson, Jason Snipes, Kevin Snipes and Jessica Hare; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Juanita P. Scott and Mary P. Cannon, and two brothers, Robert and Lawrence Peterson.
The funeral will be held at 2PM, Thursday, May 21, 2015 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. John Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 PM at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to South Quay Baptist Church, 9617 South Quay Rd., Suffolk, VA 23437.
