Courtland – Alma Mae Smith Powell, 93, died January 11, 2010 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She was born in Northampton County, NC, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Floyd Smith, and was predeceased by her husband, Johnnie Boggs Powell. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Betty P. Timmons, Dorothy Dean Allen, and Christine P. Gordon; one son, Louis W. Powell; eight grandchildren, Cathy Bradshaw, Cheryl Starke, Laurie Narduci, Renee Sanchez, Robert Allen, Brian Powell, Todd Powell, and Beth Porter; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Mills and the Rev. Julian Mills officiating. Interment will be at 2 pm Sunday at Riverside Cemetery in Courtland. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is assisting the family.
