U.S. Veteran Perry W. Barnett

Franklin - Perry William Barnett, 61, died March 7, 2007 in his welding lab at Paul D. Camp Community College. Perry was born June 20, 1945 in Chicago, Ill and was reared in Michigan and served in the U. S. Army for three and was stationed in Germany. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Trade Technology with a major in welding from Ferris Stat University. He was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society for National Leadership, American Welding Society, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. From 1973 to 1986, he worked for the Michigan Department of Labor as a consultant and from 1987 to 2004, he was an instructor at Southwestern MIchigan College in Dowagiac, MI. He had a private welding business from 1966 until1986. More recently, he was a welding instructor at Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin. Perry is survived by his dear friend, Nancy Pindur of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Jennifer Barnett of Kalamazoo and Alise Barnett of New York, N> Y.; his mother, Coleen Barnett of Mt. Pleasant, Mi; a cousin, Laura Corcoran of Bay City, MI; two nephews, Max and Zek; and a host of colleagues, friends; and former students, who knew and loved him. Perry was predeceased by his father, Newt and a brother, Paul. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Work Force Development Center at Paul D. Camp Community College, Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Perry W. Barnett Welding Scholarship Fund, Paul D. Camp Community College, 100 N. College Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851.
